These statistics are extremely telling! Almost HALF of all Americans set a New Year’s Resolution and less than 1 in 10 people follow through.

Now, I’m never one to make solid resolutions every year. I fall into the category of “people who don’t explicitly make resolutions”. I’ll usually make vague, flexible goals that exist mainly in my mind. I never write them down. BUT these statistics show that if I were to explicitly set my resolutions, maybe even write them down, that I am 10 times more likely to reach my goals.

WOAH.

 Make it known!

So the first step to attaining success in your New Year’s resolution it to set solid goals. Put it in your journal, blog or planner. You can even tell a friend or spouse, for accountability.

I came across a verse the other day that really got me thinking.

Romans 12:2 states,

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (NLT)

Transformation by changing your thoughts...

We hear about this idea a lot from the likes of talk shows or self-help books, but we rarely make this connection in our spiritual lives.

The power to change into who God wants us to be and who we desire to be through Him, lies in our ability to submit our lives - THOUGHTS included - to Him! That is where transformation begins!

So What does this Mean?

Step 1: Set solid, explicit goals and write them down!

Step 2: Submit your goals to the Father. Allow him to guide you and direct your thoughts!
